The Colwood Garden Society is a group of passionate and volunteer gardeners. We manage and maintain the Colwood Community Garden, located on Colwood City Hall property. Garden plots are rented on an annual basis, and what you grow you eat (or eat what you grow).
A Short History
The Colwood Garden Society was formed in 2017, after several years of planning a community garden. The spring of 2018, shovels were finally put to the ground, and 16 garden plots were dug. The following spring we added another 30 or so, and two years later, maxxed out at 64 garden plots.
What we do
The Society rents 62 of these 64 plots. Two plots are maintained by volunteers and the harvest is sent to Living Edge in Langford, a market style food bank for those in need.
The cost for annual rental is $45.00, plus a one-time membership fee of $10.00.
Each renter is responsible for the maintenance of their plot, as well as several volunteer hours a year on different projects within the society, such as administration, maintaining the overall garden, fundraising, etc.
