The Work Party Team looks after the overall repairs and maintenance projects within the Community Garden. These projects include ongoing garden box, gazebo and fence repair, biannual pruning, soil drop-off, pick up and delivery of supplies, and end of year shed and garden cleanup.
Time Committment: 2- 3 hours per month, every 3rd Sat (WPV Team plus any other garden volunteers) plus on occasion… 1 – 2 hours on special projects (ie. end of year cleanup)
Work Party Volunteer Team
Volunteer Team Tasks include:
- Repair, build and install garden boxes
- Drop off garden waste at Colwood Branch Drop-Off (Saturdays)
- Repair and maintain fence, gazebo, hoses
- Prune and pick fruit trees and berry bushes as required
- Pick up and move soil, compost and other garden materials
- Garden area cleanup
- Work with Communications Team to publicize and organize each monthly work party event
Special requirements
At least 1 person within the work party team should have
- Ability to determine key tasks for the day and coordinate the people and materials required and available
- Carpentry and power tool knowledge and access to power tools
- Access to a truck or vehicle able to pickup and deliver garden materials, including soil
- Knowledge of how to clean and winterize mower and whipper snipper
