Garden Maintenance Team

Regular Garden Maintenance is KEY to the sustainability of the Community Garden. Grass needs to be cut, weeds need to be pulled, gardens need to be watered, compost dropped off and the shed and Gazebo sites maintained. AND the bottle and cans dropped off need to be taken to the bottle depot. Team members should be able to commit at least one to two hours each week to these tasks.

Time Commitment: 1 – 2 hours per week. Varied days / flexible schedule

Regular Spring/Summer Maintenance

  • cut and trim grass around boxes and fence edges using mower and whipper snipper
  • weed and care for fruit trees and berry bushes
  • water any garden boxes as requested on Bulletin board postings
  • maintain herb garden and indigenous gardens (weeding & watering & harvesting)
  • collect garden waste bins and take to Colwood Yard when required
  • tidy up shed and gazebo areas as needed
  • notify board or work party team of any specific repairs required

Fall

  • Clean garden tools in shed
  • Put away any bins, wood, chairs, etc
  • Have mower and whipper snipper cleaned and winterized
