Drop Off Your Refundable Bottles and Cans
Fundraising and volunteers helps the Colwood Garden Society maintain your garden box fees at the same low rate each year.
If you don’t have the time to volunteer, then please consider bringing in your refundable bottles and cans each week. Every can or bottle helps!
We Need Your Help! We are looking for 2 or 3 volunteers who can sort and deposit the donated bottles and cans each month. Please contact cgs@colwoodgardensociety.org.
The Importance of Fundraising
The Colwood Garden Society is a nonprofit society registered under the BC Societies Act. Since 2018, the City of Colwood has supported the garden, providing the property lease at no charge, access to water for a nominal cost, free garden waste drop off, promotion, and in many other ways.
Approximately $3000 is raised each year through membership fees and garden box rentals. The rest of the garden funds must come from donations, sponsorships, grants, and fundraising It is through the hard work of our volunteers and generous donations from the community that last year over $2000 was raised through the Bottle and Can Collection fundraising.
The Garden annual expenses include: insurance, water, compost and soil, garden box maintenance, equipment fuel and maintenance (including lawn mower, etc), fencing and garden improvements, etc.
